VICTORY TOUR: Ernst Kicks Off General Election Campaign
With Joni Ernst claiming a comfortable primary victory, the state’s and the nation’s eye now turns to the general election.
State senator Joni Ernst secured 56-percent of the vote Tuesday night to become the Iowa GOP’s first female U.S. Senate nominee.
Ernst kicked off her general election campaign by starting the morning in Oskaloosa at the Smokey Row.
As part of the GOP Victory Tour, Ernst spoke to supporters with Governor Terry Branstad and Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds.
They plan to visit 13 cities across the state in three days.
“I’ve spent about the last year of this race introducing myself to the people of Iowa and now I want to highlight the differences between myself and Congressman Bruce Braley,” the Iowa National Guard Lieutenant Colonel said.
Rep. Braley ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.
