Twilight Actor Imposter Facing Additional Charges
The man accused of luring a 14-year-old girl into his car is facing six new charges.
A criminal complaint accuses David LaVera of video recording a 12-year-old in the shower and 14-year-old in the bathroom. He`s also charged with having sexual contact with a 14-year-old victim.
The 33-year-old Californian was in court Wednesday for a pretrial conference.
LaVera was arrested in June after he allegedly lured the teen into his car by claiming to be Kiowa Gordon from the Twilight movie series. She was able to get away safely.
He met his accusers after visiting two Newton schools. LaVera signed autographs and took pictures with the students.
“He told a pretty good lie, I guess. He’s pretty believable,” says Matthew Karsten who met LaVera when he was in the 8th grade.
“I thought the school was a little remiss in not checking credentials a little further in addition to just letting anybody in like that,” says Eugene Krystopolski who has great-grandchildren in the Newton school district.
In June, LaVera was charged with enticing a minor and carrying weapons. The new charges filed Tuesday include 3rd degree sexual abuse, two counts of invasion of privacy, two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and attempting to entice a minor under 16.
LaVera remains in the Jasper County Jail.
