FLORES CAPTURED: How Bounty Hunter Tracked Fugitive

Fugitive David Flores spent the past eight months looking over his shoulder, waiting for the day he would be caught. That day is here.

“Pretty tough guy to catch. He's got a lot of friends. A lot of family. A lot of contacts everywhere. And he was..he was a squirrel. But we got him.” says Garry Logan, a bounty hunter with Kenny’s Bail Bonds.

Flores was released from prison last year on a plea deal after serving more than 15-years for murder. Within two months of his release, Flores was arrested three times, the most recently for allegedly beating an ex-girlfriend. He bonded out of jail then skipped town.

His bail bondsman, Kenny Nulph of Kennys Bail Bonds, has been looking for Flores ever since. “Christmas Eve, sitting outside his parents' house just waiting for him to come.” Nulph recalls, “From about midnight till six in the morning in my car with no heat, scraping the inside of the windows just waiting for a car to roll in.’

Nulph tracked Flores to Los Angeles, then eventually to Phoenix. That’s where Flores got sloppy and put his lease and utilities under a false name. “There was a water bill. There was a lease. And once we made contact with the landlord, found out who owned the property and they contacted the landlord and they reassured us hey, he's here, we were gone.” Logan says, “First plane we could get out, buddy we were out of here.’

Logan, with the help of some out of state bounty hunters, ID’d Flores at his Phoenix apartment and nabbed him. “Went up to the window, identified him in the house looking through the window. Knocked on the door. The other guy answered the door. We just kind of took charge of the situation at the door, went in..’where's David?’ He was in his bedroom. Went right in there…on his belly.’

Flores didn’t put up a fight. His freedom was over. ‘I was prepared for a lot worse.” Logan said, “I definitely at the very least expected a real good foot chase. And probably a little more than that. I didn't really expect him to be willing to come back with me as easy as he went.’

“I don't wish David anything bad.” Nulph adds, “But it was gonna happen. And he called and begged me all the way back to turn him loose and it's not my call. Your deal with me was you're gonna show up. Since you didn't show up now you gotta go to jail.’

“People have resources and they think they can hide.” Logan said, “Don't fool yourself. We got a few resources ourselves and we'll find ya. May not be today, might not be tomorrow but we're gonna get ya.”

Flores is charged with domestic abuse by strangulation, false imprisonment, willful injury causing bodily injury, and several other charges. He is being held in Polk County Jail on $61,000 cash bond.
